Surgery on the Horizon!

I've had tonsil issues most of my life, I have a sore throat every single day when I wake up. Normally it goes away after I've been up for awhile, not so anymore. When we went to Chicago in Feb. I had a throat thing & a double ear infection, I got a strong antibiotic, guess what didn't even touch it! So yesterday I went back to the Dr. She said I was 75%-80% blocked (she could barely see down my throat) So the cure........tonsil removal @ age 38 (ugh) I know, I know what your thinking wow I've heard it's so much harder for adults (I've heard it many times!) She said probably tubes in the ears too! This morning on the way to school Shelby says, "Mama why do you sound funny?" I say "Mama's throat still hurts" She says "So just drink some water." So I say "The only thing that's going to help, is to get my tonsils yanked out." She said "oooooo, yuck." The specialist can't get me in until Thursday, not good. I'm having sleeping issues, when I lay down I feel like I'm suffocating & can't breathe. As my daughter would say "On the bright side" I've lost 4 pounds on the fudgecicle/popcicle diet!

Oh, I so feel for you! I had my tonsils taken out when I was 20.
Word of advice, don't listen when they say ice cream feels good right after the surgery. It's a big fat lie. Stick with lukewarm semi liquids!

On the plus side - I haven't had a real sore throat since, and it's been over 12 years. Nor have I snored or had half the illnesses I had before the tonsillectomy. Well worth it!
