A funny thing happened.......

On the way to Walcott. While we were driving I noticed the odometer about to hit a cool number so I pulled over as soon as I saw it change. Here is the picture of the number I thought was pretty cool. In cas you can't read it it says 123456. I have never seen an odometer reading like that, so I pull over off Kimberly road onto Wisconsin Ave in west Davenport to record the moment, and low and behold while I am taking the picture Trish says "Oh no, honey" I look up to see the flashing lights of an Iowa state trooper. He was very nice and asked if we were having some kind of trouble, I told him no, but we had stopped to take a picture of the odometer to which he gave me a rather odd look and said "next time stop on the shoulder, not on a traveled roadway." I said Thank you somewhat embarrassed and got on my way. Way to go Dork!

She is getting better

Trish was telling me just the other day that every picture of her since the surgery has been of her laying in bed half out of it with her hair flat and matted form sleeping half the day away. Well here she is folks sitting up, freshly showered and feeling a bit better for the time. She thought it would be nice to go out to Walcott to see her Mom and Dad and bring a little Dairy Queen for a treat. I think it was good for both Trish and her Mom. Nana is recovering from foot surgery and is doing very well on her road to recovery. Good job to both of you.

GO HEELS!!!!!!!!!!!!

All I can say is this is a banner day for sports in this household. As some of you may know, if this were Trish posting, this would never make the blog. She; however, is out of commission and that means I have the final say on the posting.....for now. With that said.....How bout the TARHEELS!!!!! In the final four again, and here's hoping the NCAA Champions after next weekend. To top it off Tiger Woods won his first tournament after an 8 month layoff due to reconstructive knee surgery. All I can say is look out folks, because the Masters is 2 weeks away and hes is just hitting his championship stride. Thank you all for allowing me this indulgence, and hopefully Trish doesn't mind too much.

I came home from work Friday to and was asked to make some supper for the Queen and Princess. I, again, slaved over some Top Ramen noodles, chicken flavor. They were very grateful and it was a hit. While Trish had a rough couple of days, things seem to be moving in the right direction now. Her pain level stays down for longer periods of time and she is abel to move around a little bit now. As she gets better she wants to move around more because she feels like she is getting really weak. All in all the recovery seems to be taking place now, and that is very good news.

No clue

I don't think Trish or I had any idea how this surgery would affect her in terms of pain & mobility. Last night I think she overdid it a little. She was feeling better and tried to do too much and got a little dizzy and proceeded to throw up. That is not a good thing for a recent tonsilectomy. The pain continued almost all night, so today she will be starting over again trying to knock down the pain level. Just before she fell asleep last night she said "I don't want to do this anymore." While I laid there trying to figure out a way to make her pain go away a little bit I realized it has only been 36 hours and everyone who has been through this told us it would be a slow recovery. We really had no clue.

A little normalcy

After the boiled potatoes dish I slaved over for say........8 minutes of preparation. It seemed to go over fairly well. She ate all the potatoes and all is going well. Shelby is back, and wow how things sped up around here with a 7 year-old running around the house. Trish was very happy to see her, Shelby ran upstairs and immediately got under the covers to snuggle with mommy. Shelby said "I missed you mommy, can we watch some tv." Gotta love her. However the new wore off rather quickly. Shelby is now upstairs watching tv and playing by herself, so much for I missed you mommy. See.....normalcy at it's finest. Here's hoping tonight will go much smoother than last night.

Shelby's back home

Shelby is back in the house after 2 days of fun with friends and family(Thank you so much Brenda & Leisha)
Proof that Trish has ventured from the sanctity of the bed to watch a little tv in the basement
These flowers arrived today from Trish's friends at work

Update

Just a quick update on Trish and the tonsil recovery. She had a rough night last night, but thanks to the miracle of modern chemistry that is liquid Vicadin, she was able to get some sleep and was feeling much better than before. "
  1. She was able to eat 3 whole popsicles today
  2. She managed to get out of bed down the stairs to the computer to check up on my blogging
  3. She now wants some food that will "stick to your ribs"

We will see what the evening brings, I will update more later

I will give it a try

Ok everyone, here goes my Trish is out of commision post. As you can see, Trish made it through surgery just fine. The doctor said he removed her "chronically-infected nasty tonsils" and she should start feeling better as soon as the effects of the surgery would let her. We had a little bit more pain this evening, but after a bit of pain medicine she is resting comfortably now. I will be waking her up to give her doses through the night in order to keep the pain more managable. Thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers. They were obviously heard and answered. I will keep you posted as things progress, and hopefully Trish will be back at this soon as I am really not as good at this as she has become.

Tonsils

Ok, I've had my snack am super tired so off to bed. I have to be at the hospital at 10:45 My surgery is at 12:15. Which means no FOOD (yooooowwww) Daren is going to take over blogging for me for a couple of days until I'm back on my feet again. So I'm sure there will be some embarrasing photos on here of me. Oh well! Say a prayer for me. Bye for now!
