On Saturday nights we go to church. Shelby goes to Kid Zone (which she loves) & we go to the service. We were asked to help out in Kid Zone tonight. It was fun we had a good time. Doesn't Daren look like a giant in that chair? He's such a good sport. Emily, Shelby, & Madiline. Daren, Shelby, Max, Emily, & Madeline. Daren & Max. Max was trying out a magic trick Daren taught him.

Dance Team Mini CampShowcase!

Shelby was so excited to do the West High Dance team mini camp showcase. All the girls from danceworks she looks up to were there, so it was fun to be a big girl. When we walked in to West High (where I went to high school, which looks so different) Shelby said "I'm going in a little girl, I hope to leave a dance team member" Whoa little one slow down a bit. It was from 3:30 to 9:00 so quite a long day after a long week. Tired, hot little girl when we got her home. Most of the songs they did were from High School Musical 1,2, or 3 (who knows) Shelby's song was "Humuhumukunukuapua'a" The one where Ryan & Sharpay do the hula dance. It was so cute & the little 1st graders all did a great job. Thanks dance team you made some little girls very happy, mine in particular. Shelby & her buddy Kenzie from Dance works & mini camp.

Surgery on the Horizon!

I've had tonsil issues most of my life, I have a sore throat every single day when I wake up. Normally it goes away after I've been up for awhile, not so anymore. When we went to Chicago in Feb. I had a throat thing & a double ear infection, I got a strong antibiotic, guess what didn't even touch it! So yesterday I went back to the Dr. She said I was 75%-80% blocked (she could barely see down my throat) So the cure........tonsil removal @ age 38 (ugh) I know, I know what your thinking wow I've heard it's so much harder for adults (I've heard it many times!) She said probably tubes in the ears too! This morning on the way to school Shelby says, "Mama why do you sound funny?" I say "Mama's throat still hurts" She says "So just drink some water." So I say "The only thing that's going to help, is to get my tonsils yanked out." She said "oooooo, yuck." The specialist can't get me in until Thursday, not good. I'm having sleeping issues, when I lay down I feel like I'm suffocating & can't breathe. As my daughter would say "On the bright side" I've lost 4 pounds on the fudgecicle/popcicle diet!

Daddy's Hands

Shelby said Daddy will you do my hair? You don't hurt me as much as Mommy, she makes me cry. (awwwwww) So Daren did, & he tried really hard. Look at the size of those hands. He gets his big fingers stuck sometimes. The first side he did great, the second side I had to help him a bit. Not bad Big Daddy, not bad at all.

Telemarkerting revenge!

Ok so is anyone else tired of the sales calls daily? We are at my house. When we moved to town from the country the new phone # we got was someone named Shelly (who apparently didn't pay her bills) after 6 mths we still get calls for her daily. So tonight the phone rang & we all groan at the same time. The caller ID said unavailable (shocking) I told my 7 yr. old daughter to answer it. She's quite the talker & I thought ha! payback she'll talk all night. So here's the conversation. Shelby-Hello Caller- Can I speak to Shelly? Shelby-My name is Shelby Lynn Fick if that's what your asking. Caller-Shelly? Shelby-I can't hear you? Caller-Can I talk to Shelly? Shelby- This is Shelby. Shelby-Hello, hello, hello. Caller-Can I speak to Shelly. Shelby-This is Shelby, your not calling for me are you? Shelby-Ok well then I'm hanging up now....bye bye. We were rolling what bad parents we are, but man was it hilarious.

Going to Work!

Daren had to go to work to check on some stuff so he asked Shelby if she'd like to go with. I was excited & asked them to take pictures, this is what they brought me. Oh well!

Weight update!

I haven't updated in a bit. Daren's down 19 1/2. Way to go Big Daddy!

1 whole hour!

Time change. Why? I was fine with time already. Ok, you wouldn't think 1 hour would matter to much but, man it's kickin' my butt on this dreary Monday morning. It's been like 2 days of rain, really makes me want to curl up in my comfy bed & nap for a day or 2. Well aren't I Suzy Sunshine this morning huh? Hope everyone had a great weekend & a fabu week to come. More later!

Date night!

We went out to dinner @ Rudy's tacos. We, I mean I had the busboy take our picture (Daren thought I was being a crazy blogger) the busboy said ummm....I'll try, he looked like he'd never seen a camera, oh well. So that's why it's a little blurry. Then we went to Jumer's casino in Rock Island. We went to see Andrew Landers Project. The lead singer is Andy Landers, he's a pastor at our church. It was a free concert, so the only money we spent was Daren's beer & the money we gambled. I decided I couldn't be a gambler, I walked in the place my chest got tight, heart started beating faster, & my stomach hurt. The music was great Andy & the band played from 8pm-12am It was great entertain- ment, thanks as always guys.

Ranked up there!

Today ranked up there, as 1 of the best days of my life. (Many more I hope) I'm home from the last JA class. I took them all cookies (bribery errr I mean a treat!) Then we did the work we needed to do. Then the big finale the scrapbooks! I kept telling myself it's ok their kids they probably won't care, so I wouldn't be disappointed. As it turns out they loved them, I was so shocked even the boys loved them. I wrote something nice about each child they were so impressed. I told them at the end of the book was a completion certificate which meant they graduated from the JA class, they started chanting 1 more day, 1 more day, etc............... Mrs. Johnson then told them, "It means you graduated from 1st grade JA, you'll have it again in 2nd grade. Of which a couple of them looked at me & said "Will you be our teacher?" I said, "I'm not sure" (not knowing what classes they will be in, or if I'm still at Midland & able to) When she got them calmed down again, I got my coat on & told them thankyou for letting come into their classroom. They all ran over to me gave me a huge group hug & didn't want to let me go. It was so touching & rewarding. I'm so glad I did it. Another one of the out of my comfort zone things. (Scary, but great in the end)

Done....Finally!

Alright all 21 scrapbooks are done. It's 12:23 just time enough for a shower then off to school.

Scrapbooks

It's 9:22am, I was up until 3am (ugh) A little delirious, but here! I still have 6 scrapbooks left. I ran out of adhesive, so I just got back from Walmart (schleping to the store in a stocking hat & my pj pants!) I got an email from Mrs. Johnson she said to come @ 1:15 because Shelby will be in TAG class, so I got an extra 1/2 hour YEAH! Back to work.

JA

I've been teaching JA classes for Shelby's 1st grade class. Tomorrow is my final class to teach. I've been keeping all their art work, drawings, etc. so I decided to make all the kids their own scrapbook. So my friend Brenda came & took pics of me with each kid, & today we did a class picture with Mrs. Johnson (the REAL teacher) As of now 9:25 pm I have 3 scrapbooks done, 18 more to go. (before 12:45 pm tomorrow.) No problem, ha! :) I know, I'm crazy, oh well admitting it is the first step, right? I'll let you know tomorrow when I get them done, wish me luck!
