Finally!!!

Shelby made this sign, to show Ashlyn outside her hospital room!

This is a picture of our little boy sucking his thumb! Isn't he adorable! This is Henry David Fick! He's healthy, everything looked & measured great, the doctor was very happy with everything, we were thrilled! The tech said there's one leg & another leg & something in between. Shelby "said yeah the dangly thing" When Shelby found out it was a boy she started to cry & we were worried but she said, I'm ok, I'm happy, their happy tears. When the tech was measuring Henry was sideways across my belly, she left to get the doctor. When she came back he had turned in the breach postion, then he curled himself up & hid behind the bladder & placenta, he decided he'd had enough. He's very, very active. We were so blessed to have our little Shelby & can't believe we get to have another miracle, can't wait to meet him, we love hime already!

JA class

I teach JA to Shelby's 2nd class. The 2 grownups in the picture are Mrs. Fleming (teacher) & Miss Oney (student teacher)

Me with my class! This year has gone so much better. Last year was out of control. A little more focused this year, plus a great teacher who has control over her class! We love you Mrs. Fleming!!!! (wish we could take her to 3rd grade too)

Wow!

So tomorrow is our 20 week ultra sound yeah, were all 3 very excited. Last night when we got home there was a message on our machine saying...The University of Iowa Hospital family place (whatever the heck it's called) is having valet parking from 10:00 to 4:00, because President Obama will be in Iowa City @ the hospital. Yikes! As if I'm not excited, nervous, & every other emotion already now I'm freaked out we won't be able to get there on time. Appointment is @ 1:00. Wish us luck!!! Vote on the poll to the right, we should know tomorrow yippee!!

Monday from _ _ _ _

So today is Monday! I'm SUPER tired. I decided to wear thigh highs today because I wore a dress & hate tight things on my tummy. I was feeling good walked into work, as I did the left thigh high became a knee high...ugh!!! We have a rule where I work, you have to wear some form of panty hose (except memorial day to labor day) today not being one of those days, I had to run next door to Hyvee & buy some. Came back  went to the bathroom struggling, sitting on the toilet trying to get into these darn things (I know quite a visual, with too much information kicker....sorry!) So I got them on, get my dress pulled down, wash hands, look myself over in the mirror & notice 2 things.....One-Man I look huge & pregnant in this dress & Two- I have a long huge run in my brand new $5 panty hose ARRRRRRRGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So sucky start but I'm sure it's looking up from here! On a positive note today is 20 weeks 1/2 way there! This week the baby is the size of a small cantaloupe & the length of a banana. On Thursday is our trip to Iowa City for our Level II ultra sound, to make sure everything is a ok & in the right spot, oh yeah & whether it's a boy or girl!! Can't wait! Shelby had a thing at school on Thursday, I was supposed to come have lunch with her & they had a speaker coming ;(  so I gave her the choice of going alone to that, or going to the ultra sound, she of course chose the ultra sound. On another note Happy Birthday to my bestest buddy Carrie, happy 39th & were the same age for 4 months :)  Hope everyone has a fabulous Monday, with NO panty hose!

Roses are Itchy!

This is a story from 3 weeks ago (as usual I'm behind!) On a Thursday morning Shelby woke up with a red rash on her neck. I just thought it was dry skin (from the cold) so we put antibiotic cream on it & I sent her to school. Thursday afternoon after Poms she came home & her arm pits were red & raw (along with the neck which hadn't changed) It appeared as if she had a sun burn. So I gave her some benadryl & more cream. No change. So Friday morning I called to get her into the Dr. We went to the doctor @ 11:30 She had a fever, something on her throat & her ears were dull (whatever that means) So I say "what about the rash?" She says I'm stumped it looks to me like a perfume or lotion reaction. (No where I'm going?) So she gives Shelby an antibiotic. We then go to Big Daddy's work while waiting for the medicine to get ready, & she proceeds to tell us she has used this rose room spray on her neck & arm pits for 3 days in a row. Heres the ingredients- Aqua/Eau alcohol denat, propylene gycol, polysorbate, benzophenone....etc..... nothing good that's for sure. So for about a week or week in a half her skin was peeling & itchy & basically burnt. I'm pretty sure a good lesson was learned for young Shelby!

Heavy Heart

This Sunday morning on the way to church we had heavy hearts. Some mistakes were made, now someone
we love (don't know very well but love from afar, through church & blogs) is no longer at our church.
I'm learning from others examples what it's like to be less judgemental, forgiving, &  hopeful. We along with many others this week have shed many tears. I was impressed how our church handled things this morning, with forgiveness, hope, & love. We are all broken in many different ways, one is no worse or better than another (which is hard to say, live & believe in your heart)  We've only been going to our church for 2 years but we feel at home there. My prayers are with everyone one involved with the tradgedies that have occured, & wish healing, forgiveness, & grace. Thank you to all the great examples of human kindness, strength, & grace. All I know is after today our church will never be the same & GOD is Great!!! Amen!

Preggers Update

We are at week 18, the baby is the size of a bell pepper & weighs 7 ounces. On Tuesday went in for a monthly check up, I only gained a 1/2 a pound (yippee, I was excited)  The baby's heart beat was 154.
Last time I saw this Dr. it was not good, but I told myself she was probably having a bad day, they had delivered 2 babies that afternoon, & were backed up. So anyways this time was much better, she said I
was measuring fine, everything looked & sounded great. On Thursday March 25th were having a level 2
ultrasound in Iowa City (because of my "advanced maternal age") can't wait & hopefully we'll be able to tell if it's a boy or girl. Big Daddy & I want a boy, but we both think it's a girl. Shelby wants a girl & thinks it's a boy, so we'll see who's right.

Scrappin'

My sister in laws Leisha, Valerie, & I @ our scrapbooking weekend in Des Moines. Valerie is a social worker for hospice of IA. Valerie's had this patient for 2 years Stacy she's 40, she has ALS & 3 children (14, 8, & 5) She was given 2 months to live (soooo sad) She wanted to make scrapbooks for all 3 of her children, but her hands don't work anymore. Valerie said she would do it for her. Valerie brought it all with her & asked us women to help. It was amazing, some women gave money to help, or supplies to help, or just scrapped pages. All told we did 149 pages, & finished all 3 of the kids books. It was so great the bonding of all these great women. We were all so moved & cried so much. I was moved by all the talents, & generosity of these great women. One of the pages that moved me to tears (& still does) It was a picture of Stacy & her baby girl when she was born & the title said "You took your first breath, and took my breath away" Are you kidding me? I had a great time, thanks to all you women, you made me feel proud to be a woman!!!

We stayed in a Super 8 Friday night, it was alot of fun. I said to the girls "this is fun, having sisters in law, my brothers would never lay hear & giggle with me" We didn't get much sleep but it was fun for ONE night.

Leisha borrowed her Mom's "pregnant rollerskate" car, we had fun driving, talking, navigating :) It was a great weekend, thanks girls lets do it again!

Preggers Update

We are at week 17 the size of a turnip! Getting big huh? Feeling some movement now. Having some low back pain now (things are spreading out apparently) Overall feeling pretty good! Big Daddy says wow, your in pain alot. As I informed him (after I smacked him, just kidding) he gets me at the end of the day, which I'm pooped by then so he gets the whining I guess. Until he carries this little one, he gets to listen to the complaining (Love you hunny) Next Tuesday the 9th I have a monthly checkup & that's when we schedule the ultrasound, to find out if we have a miss or mr, Shelby is soooo over the waiting, it's killing her to know!!!
More later!
